I recently returned from Mexico, where I was with a small crew, shooting the pilot episode of a documentary series entitled "The Secret Life Of..." The show is hosted by Dan Glass, and each episode focuses on the lesser known stories behind different psychoactives in cities around the world.
For the pilot, we went to Huautla de Jimenez, Mexico, to talk to local Mazatec people about the use of mushrooms in healing ceremonies.
Please check out the trailer, and to keep up with developments on the show, updates will be posted at http://spygirlpix.blogspot.com
You have to admire his dedication - they think he may have broken his leg just to get the cast through without suspicion. But a hollowed-out six pack of beer? Where the hell do people let you board a plane with a six pack anymore?
In 1989, my friendless 10-year-old-self watched a lot of tv and made a lot of super low-fi vcr montages. I became obsessed with the Eddie Murphy produced pilot "What's Alan Watching," which only aired once, but was played back many times in my house until my sad little tape finally snapped. I have never been able to find more than a passing mention of the pilot on line - UNTIL NOW.
This week the FDA approved Allergan's glaucoma treatment spinoff drug, Latisse, for lengthening eyelashes. As someone who became allergic to their own contact lenses, I'm a bit dubious of the safety of the product. Of course, as someone who also lets nice Korean ladies painstakingly affix individual eyelash extensions to my own with what amounts to airplane glue, who the hell am I to talk?
