Drug Users vs. The Obese

In a world filled with false dichotomies we must constantly choose which is the more disgusting between two options. Given America's fear of illegal drugs and its simultaneous embrace of all things snacky, one blogger poses the question: Which is worse for your health: drugs or obesity?

As a lifelong bean-pole I will say that I would greatly prefer drug addiction to obesity, as long as I had a decent supply of drugs. Perhaps if food was illegal I would be more inclined to fatten up to combat resource scarcity, but if I could find drugs that kept me from getting hungry, probably not...

I don't think anyone can FORCE you to feel guilty, once you realize what's going on... I mean, if someone is deliberately trying to make you feel bad, it seems to me that they've automatically placed themselves into the "not worth caring about" category.

Why neccessarily draw conflicts? I, on the other hand, have been quite obese since I was about 11 years old. And I think it's not the best thing for self-esteem to be made ashamed of the fact that yes, I sometimes eat chocolate for pleasure and not because I'm fainting of hunger. I agree it's not the most healthy thing in life, but why can't people have a little bit of free choice without being FORCED to feel guilty?
