Oxytocin party? Uh... okay!

Hmm, I guess an "Oxytocin Party" does sound like more fun than a "let's watch reruns of Stargate" party. In this video clip, see oxytocin ("the bonding hormone") doled out on lozenges at a party, where consenting adults, like, feel stuff as a result:

With all this talk about blocking flash, you'd think people have heard of flashblock...

Looks stupid to me. Havenīt you heard about "Ganja"... the sacred weed... Truly 100% better... and itīs not synthesized in laboratory.

It is a little annoying that this video starts automatically on the page load. It makes me want to block all flash from this site.

411 for men?! It seems that just being male is somehow wrong. Do we see 411 for women with lozenges of testosterone?
smt. : 2009-07-20 07:58:11
Hmm, that IS intersting. Maybe they did feel those intitial effects. Then they just rode the wave of a social high the rest of the night. Or perhaps there were more substances floating around than the video lets on. =)

Sounds like bad science to me.

And: PLEASE disable the autoplay on the clip!! Wreaks havoc with feed readers, in addition to being obnoxious.

Basically what I'm trying to say is, it is metabolized as fast if not faster than the rate at which it's absorbed subbuccally. Unless you feel something the moment the lozenge hits the underside of your tongue, enjoy your expensive placebo.
GK.. : 2009-07-19 17:49:23
SMT. What's even funnier is that most subbuccally administered medications directly enter the blood stream, but take about ten minutes to feel. The half-life of oxytocin already in the blood stream is about five minutes. So by the time ten minutes has passed, only a quarter of the dosage in your blood remains unmetabolized. I have no faith in the organizers' honesty or intelligence (or ability to do five minutes of research.)

Based on the advertisements for this product I was expecting this video to feature a raging orgy. Has anyone here actually tried it? What ever happened to PT-141? Just curious. Was interested in both but they will probably be a waste of money.
smt. : 2009-07-19 12:33:11
They are losenges. They are placed under the tongue and they go directly into the bloodstream...
GK.. : 2009-07-19 05:09:40
Heeeelarious. I wonder how much those people paid for their placebo party.

"Oxytocin is destroyed in the gastrointestinal tract, and therefore must be administered by injection or as nasal spray."
dreamdust. : 2009-07-18 11:07:22
Never done it. Been around people who were on it and I couldn't detect much of a difference.

Nowhere near the level of connection you feel on MDMA it seems.

skep tick. : 2009-07-18 10:27:17
wait - it is served by a "homeopathic doctor"? are they sure there is actually any detectable oxytocin in the lozenge?
Anonymous. : 2009-07-18 08:46:12
I think oxytocin is hightly overrated. It is supposedly the hormone that causes bonding between mother and child, and nursing is supposed to throw open the floodgates.

My wife nursed our children for six years, and never once got an oxytocin rush.
