Podcast : Inside the Tryptamine Palace

A rollicking interview with James Oroc, author of the Tryptamine Palace: 5-MeO-DMT and the Sonoran Desert Toad. In which experiential journalist Rak Razam delves into the secret history of DMT from Stephen Szara's experiments in the 1950s, William Burroughs (whom Oroc calls the "Godfather of DMT") and his radical break with English language caused by his DMT experiences ("language is a virus") through to the lower language bardos of the DMT realm where the golden code of meaning manifests. Oroc hypotheizes about the relationship between consciousness and language and the Zero Point Field and recognizing oneness within God. Is 5-MeO-DMT a tool to help us experience on the inside what quantum physics explains on the outside – non-local experiences of the "whiteout" or plenum of energy that lies within? Is 5-MeO-DMT specifically designed to be a sacred template or will it become the "next big thing", full circle from the 60s? Oroc and Razam trade maps of the 5-MeO-DMT space and attempt to tranlinguisticize the bardo spaces of the Godhead, and what lies beyond the beyond... An intimate discussion by two pre-eminent psychonauts on the fringes of innerspace for your enlightenment and elucidation...

Scientific theory is, after all, theory. If an idea challenges your belief you are obligated to objectively review it. Your prejudice should be the suspension of prejudice. Belief is the parasite that undermines the evolution of thought. Ultimately we don't know; and that is where the scary fun exists

"Something is screwy here."

Maybe your categories?

Yes, Kelly, let's pretend there's no such thing as mental illness because some of us have found psychedelics useful. I'm sure you've got some herbs that will cure my friend's schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder, right? Oh, but those are just bullshit labels that "the man" uses to exploit people. What he needs is some ayahuasca or something, right? That'll fix everything.

Kelly - What's screwy is the rhetorical frame you're using to relate to psychedelics and psychology. Why would psychedelics be contrary to scientific attempts to distinguish consciousnesses?

Who said anything about the DSM? Just because some of us are sick of the same recycled memes and meaningless jargon, doesn't mean we're not about transgressing the limits of perception.

I think Rak Razam has a huge ego and is just riding a wave of other people's ideas. He's an echo. Doesn't mean I'm part of some anti-psychedelic cabal. Quite the contrary.

Some of us are sick of people who dress up the message in needlessly esoteric babble in order to sound important.

Interesting.... : 2010-05-16 13:51:14
Worth considering. Though extreme caution should be noted. 5MeoDmt should not be regarded lightly. Literature has shown many times that it - along with related compounds like bufotenine - have the potential to seriously weaken and even stop breathing. Shulgin notes this in Tihkal. Always look both ways before crossing the road...

I don't see how this website can be both for psychedelics and the DSM at the same time. The DSM is about pigeonholing consciousness for exploitative reasons--to benefit shrinks and insurance companies, but psychedelics are about transgressing limits of perception.
Something is screwy here.

Is "pre-eminent psychonaut" an oxymoron, or is it a paradox allowed by translinguistic condensates of the Godhead?
dreamdust. : 2010-05-15 19:06:49
Rak Razam is a "pre-eminent psychonaut" now, huh?
Synchronium.net. : 2010-05-15 14:48:57
More pseudoscientific nonsense judging by that description.
