Leonardo DiCaprio to star in 'Brave New World'

Were you waiting on pins and needles for a film version of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World? If so, your luck may finally be changing: after the resolution of a contentious battle within Huxley's family for pieces of the royalty pie, it looks like none other than Leonardo DiCaprio is pushing the project forward. Apparently Leo's dad was a good friend of Laura Huxley's, and somehow, Leo caught the bug for this particular book, which the family hadn't thought possible to make until modern advances in special effects finally caught up to Huxley's futuristic vision.

DiCaprio will play John the Savage, who lives a “natural” life on a reservation while the rest of cloned humanity is lulled into docility with sex, soma (drugs) and feelies (films that also involve the senses of smell and touch). He finally escapes celebrity to become a lighthouse keeper.

“And Ridley Scott, who has just finished working with Leo on a film called Body of Lies, has volunteered himself to direct,” said George DiCaprio, who is helping to produce Brave New World. “We are due to see the first script next week.”

Hmm... you know, I just recently spent a lovely chunk of hours watching all the special features that came with the recent Blade Runner re-re-re-re-re-re-release, and honestly, DiCaprio has matured into a surprisingly formidable acting talent. Who knows - this could be something worth looking at, provided there's not a Will Ferrell movie opening that same weekend.

The imperial cultists and opium

Bulwer-Lytton is best known to Americans through his 1838 novel, The Last Days of Pompeii, but he is also both the spiritual father of the Rhodes-Milner secret societies and of Nazi fascism. A mystic and prenascent fascist, Bulwer-Lytton led the English Rosicrucians, a branch of the Scottish Rite Masons headed by his Prime Minister Palmerston.

Unlike the comparatively closed members of the British elite around him, Bulwer-Lytton was an outspoken exponent of the Isis cult, which formed the subject of his famous novel. His popularized Isis myth was the inspiration for an entire array of warped imitations.

Included among these was Helena Blavatsky's book, Isis Unveiled, and her Theosophist cult. Theosophy was the Satanic bible of the mystic secret societies, including Germany's "Thule" group, which produced most of Hitler's SS. (10)

Another Bulwer-Lytton protégé was satanist Aleister Crowley, of the "Thule" group's equivalent in England, the "Isis-Urania Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn." Both of these groups traced their lineage back to Palmerston's Scottish Rite Masons through Bulwer-Lytton. (11)

Aleister Crowley was the tutor of Aldous Huxley, the prophet of mind control, who later introduced the LSD cult into the United States during the 1950s (see Part IV). (12)

Britain's imperial link to Nazi fascism is even more direct in the case of Bulwer-Lytton's other published work. His novel Rienzi, about the Knights of St. John, provided the text of Richard Wagner's first opera. His 1871 novel, Vril: The Power of the Coming Race, contained virtually everything that Houston Stewart Chamberlain later had to say on racial theory; Prof. Karl Haushofer, who ghost-wrote most of Mein Kampf in Hitler's prison cell 50 years later, named his first secret organization the "Vril Society." There was a version made before, at least one, Leonard Nimoy is in it.

Remember reading it in school, and thinking that when they go to the movies - and they're called 'The Feelies' - that's what films were already like......cause when you're young (well, that's how it was for me anyway) it was as-if the fate of the characters was actually having a bearing on your life, and you'd get all concerned about it & get emotionally involved.

Thank f*ck I grew out of that phase, it made seeing movies a total nightmare.

If Ridley Scott directs it, then there is a fighting chance it will be great!

Leo is working on it, but I think the magnitude of the project is daunting.
I mean come on, a movie about Leary, it's gonna take some serious work to do it right. Leary had mad respect in Hollywood circles, so I think they'd want to take their time, and do him justice. BTW ever seen the footage of Leary at a party in the 80's and Arnold S. is chillin' in the background-? Leonardo is a great guy, and is pro-psychedelic all the way. Hollywood is where acid really got introduced with an acceptance(although, only for the rich at the time), and it is one of the few power centers in the world that could give the psychedelics a proper reintroduction with respect and enthusiasm.

Something else about Leo: about 2 years ago I read that he will be making a film biography of Tim Leary. ("Finally" - I thought, there have been rumours about it at least since Leary's death.) Anyone knows something more?
