Most caffeinated US city?

Did you know that Tampa has been listed as the second-most caffeinated city in the United States? We finished second only to Chicago, according to the HealthSaver 2007 Caffeinated Cities Survey conducted by an independent marketing research company.

Although most caffeine consumed in the United States comes from coffee, other sources have significantly increased. These include tea, soft drinks and, perhaps more importantly, energy drinks such as Red Bull, Rockstar, Monster and others. The caffeine content of these drinks varies widely. A Diet Coke has 45 milligrams of caffeine; a Red Bull, 80 milligrams; Rockstar, 160 milligrams; a Starbucks Grande coffee has 320 milligrams; and a Fixx, 500 milligrams!

Hmm... I do some math here... You have to drink seven Cokes to get the same amount of caffeine as a Grande coffee. That's also 1085 calories, which would be half your daily calorie allowance in soda alone. Oh wait, isn't that what a Super Big Gulp is?

I don't see a thing wrong with a little caffeine to get you started. The next thing you know, people will be wanting to outlaw COFFEE!

Caffeine is a vasodilator. It you take a lot ceasing it can cause constriction and headaches.

So the answer to the question is: light roasts, which have a higher caffeine content than the darker roasts (some caffeine is destroyed in the roasting process).

I drink a lot of coffee -- six or seven cups a day, on top of a few cups of yerba mate.

what kind of coffee do you drink?!. : 2008-09-07 14:01:20
It shouldn't. If you cut out caffeine all that happens is you're less in betawave mode, so you are more mellow and not prone to talking as much and not as prone to get involved in the world in that betawave ratrace type of way.

"Proper coffee doesn't give you headaches"

No, but stopping it sure does!

hyperactive Tampa then?. : 2008-09-06 12:16:28
Proper coffee doesn't give you headaches. But wait! - Starbucks don't do proper coffee.

I wonder has anyone compared stats on 'most caffeinated' with stats on 'most amount of impulse shootings' or even 'biggest concentration of hyper children with ADD'?
